Last week, Ark Survival Ascended dropped its latest remastered expansion, Extinction. Sending players back to a desolate Earth, it rounds off your conquest of the Ark universe just as it did in the original Ark Survival Evolved. However, fans that have been blasting through the expansion have noticed some small changes to its ending and a teaser for a brand new, original expansion to Ark Survival Ascended called Lost Colony. PCGamesN can now exclusively reveal some early details on Lost Colony and can confirm that it will set up the story of Ark 2 and lead into the events of the survival game's long-awaited sequel.
While it didn't launch Ark 2. The second is a short teaser in the style of the Ark animated series that also reveals the name and key art for the next ASA expansion, Lost Colony.
We can now exclusively confirm that Lost Colony is "the first canonical story expansion" for Survival Ascended, that the person in the teaser is indeed Mei Yin, and that the storyline will see players follow in her footsteps. The survival game's expansion will also connect the dots between the cliff-hanger ending of Extinction, the Genesis expansion that was released for Survival Evolved, and the Ark 2.

"In this new frozen world, players follow in the footsteps of legendary Ark survivor Mei Yin, on a soul-searching quest deep into the chilling heart of darkness," Studio Wildcard says. "Featuring cinema-grade anime story sequences from legendary Japanese studio MAPPA, Lost Colony bridges the gap between Ark: Extinction, Genesis, and leads into the events of Ark 2."
The developer also says that players will start to find answers to "long-buried secrets of Ark's past" in the new expansion.
The Lost Colony expansion for Ark Survival Ascended will arrive in 2025. Unfortunately, there's no update on the Ark 2 release date, which was meant to arrive in 2024 but has clearly been pushed back.
If you've already rolled credits on Extinction, here are some other brilliant open-world games you can enjoy until Lost Colony lands.
