The best Assassin's Creed Shadows mods

Here are the best Assassin’s Creed Shadows mods, ranging from cinematic reshades to realism-bolstering tweaks, to overhauls of its parkour.

What are the best Assassin's Creed Shadows mods? At PCGamesN we firmly believe there are a few games that won't benefit from a well-crafted mod or two. AC Shadows is no exception to this, and whether it's something small like minor texture tweaks or more concerted attempts to improve parkour, AC's modding scene jumped on Ubisoft's latest as soon as it landed.

From our RPGs that have come and gone, there are hopes that the best AC Shadows mods around will have a bit more oomph.

Controlled Parkour

Shadows' parkour – particularly for Naoe – is a big step towards the series' heyday, but it's far from perfect. Clunky, limited in scope, and lacking features, arguably the most important part of the AC experience can do with an upgrade.

Fortunately, 'Petrichor23' has swooped in to save the day with their Controlled Parkour mod. Providing more parkour options, with a major focus on improving eject mechanics, Shadows' building-hopping feels considerably smoother than before.

Shogun Cinematic Reshade

Considering the lion's share of Valhalla's mods revolve around shaders, re-textures, and other visual tweaks, we fully expected more of the same in Shadows. The Shogun Cinematic Reshade from '5vle' doesn't disappoint, providing what is already a gorgeous recreation of feudal Japan with the filmic look it deserves.

AC Shadows mods: U and GPU optimization

U and GPU optimization

We were pleasantly surprised by how well-optimized Shadows is. Granted, it did get delayed a couple times and the bar for optimization in modern gaming appears to be on the floor, but we digress. Of course, there's always room for improvement, and these U and GPU tweaks from 'Velasquez' do just that.

Remove Silly Effects

Assassin's Creed isn't renowned for grounded realism, but you can get a step closer to it thanks to the Remove Silly Effects mod from the aptly named 'RealisticGamer.' This reshade mod removes elements like enemy armor glow, character stealth outlines, sword trails, loot sparkles, and other gamified effects that simply don't exist in the real world.

Though the AC Shadows mod selection isn't super exciting right now, it's at least consistent with what we've seen in the past. Depending on how popular Shadows become in the community, though, we could yet see more impressive modding feats. Until then, we'll keep this guide updated with more of the best Shadows mods as they become available.
