It is most likely the final major update to one of the greatest games ever made. It's going to add some essential features and expand its already generous offering of subclasses. It will, essentially, make an all-time great RPG the best it's ever been. I am talking, of course, about BG3 Patch 8. This update has been months in the making, but now the wait is almost over, as Larian has revealed that it'll be hitting Baldur's Gate 3 very soon.
With Larian's sights set on a brand new game away from the Baldur's Gate series and the DnD universe, RPG's grand finale. Luckily, Patch 8 is appropriately significant in of what it's delivering, with the highlights being an extremely deep photo mode, crossplay , and 12 brand new subclasses – one for each of the main disciplines.
Over the last few months, Larian has been drip-feeding reveals and details about these new subclasses. You could live out your Captain Jack Sparrow fantasy as the Drunken Master Monk. It's a seriously impressive and creative lineup of subclasses, and it's going to add yet more reasons to respec or simply play through BG3 again.

While Larian did unintentionally jump the gun by accidentally pushing Patch 8 live for some players earlier in the year, it's now officially ready to go.
In an X post, Larian confirms that Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 will drop on Tuesday, April 15.
The following day, Larian will also host a live stream on Twitch featuring senior systems designer Ross Stephens, which will include a deeper dive into the new subclasses and lay out absolutely everything that's included in Patch 8 – although I expect a hefty set of patch notes will be available before then.
