How does the Blue Prince pump room work? A lot of the obstacles in Blue Prince can be maneuvered around, thought through, and figured out. One thing that can't be defeated with brain power alone is a large body of water – or the lack of it, in some cases. The Blue Prince pump room is the beating heart of the estate, and you'll need to know how it works if you want to control the flow of water through your rapidly unraveling maze.
Blue Prince is a Blue Prince pump room. Master it, and you can drain or supply multiple parts of the estate with water; without it, you'll be stuck fast.
How the Blue Prince pump room works
The pump room is a room that controls the water levels throughout the estate. You can use the various pumps and water tanks to move water around the estate – like draining the water in the fountain and adding it to the aquarium, for instance. It's important to note that you can only draft the pump room once the pool room has been drafted.
When you enter the pump room, you'll notice three large water tanks, a control , and a whole host of red levers. First, take a look at the control .
You can see that there are six areas in which you can pump water to or from. The pips above each location denote how much water is currently there and directly correlates to the numbers on the water tanks. If the fountain has four pips on the control , it means you'll need up to the fourth marking of a water tank to drain fully.
Each location on the control has a corresponding pipe on the wall to the right, and thankfully for us, they go in the same order, so the reservoir would be the first pipe on the left, etc.
To pump water to or from a location, first figure out which of the water tanks the location is connected to. If you wish to drain the aquarium, for instance, then it would be the water tank on the left of the two. Once you know this, you can get to work pushing the levers up or down (depending on whether you want to fill or drain the location) on the correct tank.
Once the levers are in place, press the button on the control , and you should hear a pumping sound, followed by an increase or decrease in water at your chosen location.
How to activate the pump room reserve tank
The third and largest water tank in the pump room is deactivated by default. If you're looking to drain the reservoir, you'll need the extra capacity of the reserve tank to hold such a vast amount of water.
To activate the reserve water tank, you need to draft the boiler room and have it connect to the pump room via other rooms that have an electrical connection. These connective rooms have a glowing outline during the drafting phase. Once the reserve water tank is up and running, you can drain any room in the estate without issue.
How to drain the reservoir
With the reserve tank now active, you can drain the reservoir in the estate's underground section. You'll need to drain water from the main tanks to the reserve tank to create enough space for the vast amounts of water held in the reservoir.
Now that you know how to use the Blue Prince pump room, you should find a lot more opportunities falling into your lap than you had before. The Blue Prince chessboard puzzle, each day starts to get a little bit more predictable.
