BPM: Bullets Per Minute is a Doom-inspired roguelike FPS rhythm game. While that might sound like a random mishmash of genres, I hope developers like Awe Interactive never stop experimenting because BPM is a wonderfully unique experience. Right now, it's included in the Speedrunning with GDQ Humble Bundle, so you can get it for what works out at just $1.71 / £1.35.
If you've ever played a game while blasting tunes and enjoyed matching your movements to the rhythm, you'll love best FPS games but with the added twist that if you fire your gun, jump, or dodge to the rhythm of the music (which sounds fantastic), your shots will grow more powerful.
The game also draws from the best roguelike games by dropping you into a randomly generated maze each time. The monsters you face and the weapons/power-ups change every run too. Essentially, BPM: Bullets Per Minute is the answer to the question, "What if Crypt of the NecroDancer was a gritty first-person shooter?" It's an incredibly hard game, to the extent that I was filled with a great sense of achievement after just finishing the practice mode, but it earns its high level of challenge by offering such a fun loop.
