Elden Ring's Seamless Co-op mod is by far the most popular fan creation FromSoftware's magnum opus has ever seen. With nearly nine million s, it keeps the spirit of the studio's unique take on multiplayer alive while making it much more player-friendly. Since then, its creator 'Yui' has also brought the mod over to Dark Souls 3, and now they've taken it even further. That's right: Seamless Co-op is finally coming to the first Dark Souls.
If you're yet to try out any of Yui's Seamless Co-op mods, they make some massive improvements to FromSoftware's Dark Souls is getting much better.
While the Elden Ring Nightreign release date promises a complete shift in how FromSoftware handles multiplayer, Yui is looking to improve the original Dark Souls at the same time. "I'm pleased to announce that I have hit an important milestone in the development of the Seamless Co-op mod for Dark Souls: Remastered," Yui writes on Patreon. "This is a mod that aims to make the cooperative side of multiplayer in the game more fun. The mod is still early in development, but I will post updates here once more progress has been made."
Yui also makes it clear that they're still working hard on refining the Dark Souls 3 version of the co-op mod, which is currently in an alpha state. Now, as a Dark Souls 2 apologist, I'm just hoping they bring their creation to the black sheep of the series (if that's even possible).
Seamless Co-op just makes FromSoftware's work better, so I can't wait to see it brought to as many of the developer's games as possible. I'd love any excuse to return to Lordran, though, and this sounds perfect.
