DBD dev's hidden message appears to tease a chapter inspired by The Walking Dead

Look closely at Dead by Daylight's new roap, and you may spot a secret teaser that calls back to a spinoff of The Walking Dead.

While Five Nights at Freddy's fever is in the air right now for Dead by Daylight lovers, the reveal of its new roap and a hidden message within it could be teasing the licensed chapter that follows its FNAF fiesta. While not yet confirmed, all the evidence is pointing towards a DBD chapter themed around The Walking Dead.

Behaviour Interactive just showered a community-designed chapter, and much more. It also dropped a roap confirming that there would be five new chapters (including the FNAF one) across the next 12 months – three licensed, and two original. However, game director Mathieu Cote ended the broadcast with a cryptic message, saying that Behaviour had already teased the theme of the chapter after FNAF during the stream.

It didn't take fans of the horror game long to hone in on some faded letters on DBD's new roap. There are 14 faded letters, and unless the community has solved them in a way Behaviour didn't anticipate, they appear to spell out the phrase: 'The Ones Who Live.' Shout out to u/Batman-1989 for the speedy solve. You can see their detective work below, but note that this image has since been removed from the DBD subreddit by s.

DBD: A roap of content for Dead By Daylight, with certain faded letters highlighted by red circles

If you're a fan of The Walking Dead, this is a phrase you may instantly recognize. But if you're not, a quick explainer. After the main series of the iconic show wrapped, a miniseries with the subtitle The Ones Who Live was created. It aired on AMC last year, and it sees Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reprise their roles as Rick and Michonne Grimes and revolves around their reunion. They are the two focal characters of the series – and that's an important thing to note.

Why? Well, the next chapter after Five Nights At Freddy's won't see any new Killers the roster, but it will see two Survivors added to the game. This theory is making a whole lot of sense to me. Unless there's a real curveball, it's looking very likely that the two new Survivors will be Rick and Michonne.

So, once the new DBD chapter is done delivering some FNAF chaos into Dead by Daylight, expect The Walking Dead to shamble into the game soon after. As mentioned, this hasn't been confirmed by Behaviour just yet, but I'd be amazed if it was anything else. According to the roap, this speculated The Walking Dead DBD chapter will arrive in July 2025.
