Delta Force beginner's tips

If you're coming into Delta Force from arcade shooters, you may have trouble adjusting to its core gameplay loop. This is especially the case with the game's extraction shooter mode, Hazard Operations. Alternatively, you may be completely new to shooters altogether. To give you a helping hand, we've listed a few nuggets of advice that will smooth your experience.

Play as a squad

Right off the bat, Delta Force isn't like other shooters in that you can run around pretending to be the main character. Granted, Assault operators like D-Wolf lend themselves to that playstyle, but even they have a role to fulfill within each squad – be it in Havoc Warfare or Hazard Operations. Everything you do in Delta Force needs to be for the good of the team, and running off to where you can't be ed is a recipe for disaster.

Find your operator

Because of Delta Force's abilities, there's an extra layer of mastery over simple pew-pew kill kill for you to dig into. As such, we recommend you spend some time with each operator until you find the one or ones who click. Luna's recon arrows, for example, can provide a huge advantage in a firefight, so learning your angles and hotspots is a must.

Learn the maps

Whether taking part in huge ground battles in Havoc Warfare or snooping around for loot in Hazard Operations, understanding hotspots and key points of interest on Delta Force's maps is pivotal to dominating the landscape. For example, if you know where snipers are going to be peering down on sites from in HW, or where the important quest objectives in HO are, you can make better-calculated plays.

Hazard Operations – understand gear rarity

As an extraction shooter, Hazard Operations is all about snagging rare loot and managing it effectively. The gear you take out into the field comes in four rarities: Common (grey), Uncommon (green), Rare (blue), and Epic (purple). While better quality gear hits harder and can soak more damage, giving you a huge PvP advantage, losing it is devastating.

When you're first starting out you'll only be able to afford low rarity gear, and this is for the best as you're going to be spending a lot of time at the start of your HO journey learning the maps and, probably, dying. Stick to the grey stuff until you begin to feel confident in your map and operator knowledge, as well as your aim. From there, begin branching out into riskier loadouts and reap the rewards of your patience.

And those are all the Delta Force guides and beginner's tips you need to succeed out there in the field. If you get bored of tearing it up with your newfound knowledge, check out some of the other great free PC games out there.
