It feels like multiplayer FPS games are starting to come back down to earth. Between Gray Zone Warfare, the Wraith Ops, and what we've seen of Battlefield 6 so far, the age of wacky skins and far-out customization appears to be coming to an end. Delta Force, however, is a curious middle child. While the Black Hawk Down campaign (more on that later) and some aspects of its multiplayer are antithetical to the nauseating, bizarro palette of Black Ops 6, it still has some purple gun skins, and eccentrically designed operators. Maybe that's why it's so popular. Part milsim, part hero shooter, Delta Force is doing better than ever on Steam.
The midseason Delta Force update brings new guns, skins, and some additional challenges for earning XP. Developer Team Jade has also confirmed that the campaign mode, based on the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, and the 2003 film Black Hawk Down, will soon be available to play solo – right now, Delta Force's campaign is available as a co-op experience only, but that will change when the true single-player mode is launched on Thursday May 22.

In combination with new, weekly events, those updates have seemingly pushed Delta Force to a record high on Steam. Released in full back in December 2024, the shooter has just achieved a new peak in of concurrent players, with 150,939 people logging on to play Delta Force simultaneously. That means the FPS game has comfortably beaten the all-time records of Battlefield V, which peaked at just over 116,000 concurrent players, and Battlefield 2042, at 107,000.
A Battlefield 6 release date finally arrives. Also a more grounded, modern military shooter, the next Battlefield is provisionally expected at some point before March 2026.
