New Destiny 2 expansion The Edge of Fate to be fully revealed very soon

The new Destiny 2 expansion has a name, and it's The Edge of Fate, but even more exciting details will arrive in a few weeks' time.

Destiny 2 expansions are always pivotal and exciting moments for the looter shooter, introducing new mechanics, features, and narrative threads. Last year's The Final Shape was one of the best in the game's history, but its expansion – codenamed Apollo – could be an even bigger landmark moment. Now, Bungie has confirmed its official name, The Edge of Fate, and set a date for a full reveal of the expansion and what it'll bring to Destiny 2 later this year.

FPS game. It's already experimented with its Episodes and Acts system during the current Final Shape era, but things are changing again for The Edge of Fate. Expansions will still be paid DLCs, but will be shorter in length, covering roughly six-month periods instead of a year. There will only be two seasonal updates over the course of an expansion, but seasons will be free.

Bungie has also teased that with The Edge of Fate and the expansion following it, it'll be getting experimental with how it delivers the story beats of its new saga. The developer previously said it was looking at "non-linear" ways to convey the narrative, letting players unravel things in their own time and in their own way. It's also said to be looking into Metroidvanias.
