Dead Cells and Diablo collide in Dragon is Dead, a roguelike with huge 1.0 plans

Mixing Dead Cells and Diablo, Steam Early Access roguelike Dragon is Dead is finally launching in 1.0 soon with an array of new features.

Blasphemous. Dead Cells. Diablo. These are the games that come to mind when looking at Dragon is Dead, but the Steam roguelike has so much more to offer. With a focus on meeting challenges with a variety of builds, it's been available in Steam Early Access for some time. Very soon, however, it'll finally be out in full with loads of new ways to play.

Set in a gothic pixel art world, roguelike game is equal parts challenge and beauty.

If, like me, you adore Dead Cells, a lot of Dragon is Dead will feel familiar to you. Dungeons are constantly shifting, enemies hit hard, and you need to utilize persistence and speed to survive. On top of this, though, Dragon is Dead also has some Diablo-adjacent ARPG systems. You've got skill trees to master, powerful items to collect, and a seemingly endless amount of synergies to concoct. You're going to fall, sure, but every run presents a new opportunity to step up your game.

With version 1.0 now right around the corner, Dragon is Dead is going to get even better. You'll have the final region and boss battle to contend with, both of which present the game's hardest challenge to date. A new area also means new enemies, as the Circle of the Black Dawn worshippers will attempt to stop you however they can.

To stand a chance, you're going to have a wealth of new legendary gear to perfect your builds. These come with even more powerful mythic tier items, too, which have all-new effects that present you with extra combinations. If you don't find exactly what you want, don't worry, because the new item quenching mechanic is here to help you out. You can use quenching to add even more options to your gear, or upgrade an item's existing performance, introducing another layer to customization.

That's not all, either, as Dragon is Dead is rounding out the 1.0 additions with a new character for you to try out. The Hunter brings a whole host of unique skills and combat stylings into the fray, offering you more ways to build your character in each run. If you've not yet tried Dragon is Dead, the update is so filled with improvements that it'll be the perfect time to dive in.

Dragon is Dead 1.0 is coming to Steam on Friday June 6. You can get involved on Valve's platform right here.
