Divisive free-to-play fantasy RPG being reborn with new combat and progression

SGRA Studio is relaunching free-to-play fantasy RPG Dragonheir Silent Gods with a combat rework, pricing reductions, and faster progress.

Seven months after it ended in US territories, developer SGRA Studio confirms that its free-to-play fantasy RPG Dragonheir: Silent Gods is coming back to North America as part of a global "rebirth" that dramatically redesigns the game's combat, progression, and pricing model. While its player count reached more than ten million worldwide, its Steam rating has remained 'mixed,' and in September 2024 service in the United States was discontinued, leaving the game inaccessible on the Valve platform. Now, it's finally making a return.

This revival of RPG's old elemental affinity system with a new 'comps' mechanic. This groups heroes into categories such as summon, frost, wild, poison, or , with bonds from characters of similar types awarding additional benefits.

Along with these changes, SGRA is promising "significant price reductions" and more streamlined progression. The cost of summons has been lowered, targeted banners will make it easier to grab the characters you want, and "more reasonable pity systems" should lower bad-luck streaks.

Additionally, all of your heroes now increase in level simultaneously, meaning you won't waste resources investing in someone you then decide not to use. Improvement materials previously used to unlock level milestones have been removed; now you'll just need to complete a trial to continue your advancement.

The game's world has been overhauled, and there are new pathfinding options if you struggle with getting lost, alongside the ability to skip past cutscenes should you prefer to just get stuck into the action. There's also a roguelike mode called the Ancestral Ruins, where you'll battle through random events and pick up a variety of blessings as you progress, that includes a rotation of weekly free heroes for you to test out.

There's no date given for when the relaunch of Dragonheir: Silent Gods will land, but you can pre- now for a selection of rewards when it arrives. SGRA also notes that veteran players who have already invested time or money into the original will be given additional bonuses in the new version as thanks.
