In 2025, Elden Ring is going to get even better. Not only is the multiplayer-focused Nightreign on the horizon, but Fromsoftware's open world opus is also getting completely new DLC. Though it's hitting the Nintendo Switch 2 first, all the extras in the Tarnished Edition will come to PC before the end of the year. So forget Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, because it's time to return to The Lands Between.
On Tuesday May 6, Fromsoftware held a new event in Tokyo, Japan. Not only did it give attendees the chance to play Elden Ring Nightreign early, but it also had exhibits of past games. One of these presentations was for the original RPG.
For starters, with the Tarnished DLC installed, you'll have two extra classes to pick from when booting up a new character. These are the Knight of Ides and Heavy Knight (according to a machine-translated Famitsu article). Fromsoftware didn't reveal anything else about the new classes, but the Heavy Knight reminds me of Havel's armor or the Stone Knight set from the original Dark Souls. As for the Knight of Ides, my guess is that there'll be some kind of magic or stamina changes involved.

The Tarnished DLC also comes with four new pieces of armor, more weapons, and extra combat techniques for you to experiment with. Some of these will be tied to the new classes, but I'd imagine that the rest will be located across The Lands Between for you to find. Your trusty spirit steed Torrent will also get three new looks, ranging from the regal to the demonic.
With the Elden Ring Nightreign release date right around the corner, I'm not quite sure what I'm more excited for. Yes, Nightreign is putting a huge co-op spin on gameplay, but the Tarnished DLC for the original game is already doing more than enough to pull me back in. Either way, 2025 is going to be the year of Elden Ring, so none of us are going to be left wanting.
If you want to dive back in ahead of the Tarnished DLC, make sure you check out all the Elden Ring builds to give you an advantage.
