If you love the spaceship combat of No Man's Sky and the thrill of the (loot) chase in games like Destiny 2 or Diablo, then Everspace 2 is probably 'dream game' material. While it forgoes PvP dogfighting or co-op boss blasting for a super tight single-player experience, it's got plenty of content to keep you entertained. Now, it's got even more. Its latest DLC expansion, Wrath of the Ancients, has arrived, expanding Everspace 2's narrative, galaxy, and lineup of ships.
Wrath of the Ancients is a significant expansion for a couple of reasons, besides the fact it injects loads of new content into space game's last DLC, and final content update in general, as Rockfish looks to fully move onto its next project.
So, what does Wrath of the Ancients deliver? Well, it's set after the events of the main campaign and takes players deep into the territory controlled by the Okkar. This consists of four brand new star systems packed with story missions, side quests, environmental puzzles, and more. Rockfish estimates that there's around ten hours of new content here.
To travel through this unexplored corner of the galaxy, you'll be acquiring some Okkar tech for yourself. One of the faction's ships, the Wraith, is now yours to own alongside a massive suite of new weapons and ship parts to find and unlock. This new spaceship also has a rather unique ultimate skill, which "transforms the ships' appearance and special abilities." Because of the addition of the Wraith, your ship hangar is being extended with one extra ship slot.

Coinciding with the DLC's launch, a free update to all Everspace 2 players is also delivering a long list of bug fixes and quality of life changes, all in an effort to make the game as bulletproof and enjoyable as it can be, seeing as is now winding down for it. Rockfish says that you may still see some small hotfixes in the future, or the addition of extra quality of life features if the community demand is there, but this update really feels like the last hurrah.
Everspace 2's Wrath of the Ancients DLC is out now and available for $24.99 / £19.99.
