FF14 Mobile is by far my most anticipated game right now. I'm incredibly curious to see how the critically acclaimed MMO will translate to phones, and what form the 2.0 story will take once you can walk around with it in your pocket. It turns out we might not have long to wait, either, as the Chinese version of the Final Fantasy 14 revamp is officially right around the corner. Surely the global launch isn't far behind then, right?
Since Square Enix formally MMO is coming soon.
As for what changes you can expect in FF14 Mobile, developer Lightspeed Studios has also held its own version of a live letter presentation and used it to highlight some of the differences from the main MMO (thanks to 'So Eepy' on YouTube for clipping it). For starters, you'll have a whopping 16 dye channels to choose from when kitting out your Warrior of Light. So if you thought 7.0's two dye options were impressive, FF14 Mobile is going to blow your socks off.

The team also shows off the new auto pathing feature, which will make it infinitely easier to head towards your next objective while rummaging through the menus. That's not all, either, as it looks like every single job will also have some sort of dodge skill it can use in combat. Fights look quite similar to the PC version, with multiple skills in the corner of your phone screen that go on cooldown once they've been used.
According to the Bilibili post (which we ran through a machine translation), FF14 Mobile is scheduled for a Chinese launch in June. There's no telling when Final Fantasy 14 Mobile will launch across the globe, but Square Enix previously said it was coming "soon after," so I'd expect it sometime in 2025. Both the Chinese and English versions were announced at the same time, too, so I can't see Square Enix waiting long to ship the game globally.
Whether you'll be playing in China or not, Final Fantasy 14 Mobile is already looking like a brilliant on the go alternative to the original game, with some new features that could actually put it above the beloved PC version. Hopefully those of us in the West won't be waiting long to play it, then.
