After countless battles and many lives lost, Arrowhead has started the biggest conflict in the history of Helldivers 2. The Illuminate is standing on Super Earth's doorstep, and they're not going to knock twice. The squid-like menace is throwing new enemies our way, but luckily for us, we've got weapon customization features to fight back with. So whether you stepped away from Helldivers 2 or have always been on the front line, it's time to suit up and defend Super Earth to your last breath.
Arrowhead's latest co-op game.
First up is the Illuminate's Crescent Overseer, who can fire deadly barrages overhead even when you're in cover, forcing you to relocate and constantly think on your feet. Then there's the Fleshmob, a failed Illuminate experiment made entirely of Voteless parts. This monstrosity is a moving fortress and is your greatest challenge yet. Lastly, you've got the Stingray. These jetfighters provide from the sky, and target you by lining up devastating strafing runs.

Not all hope is lost, however, as Arrowhead has introduced Helldivers 2 weapon customization to help you fight back. Most of the game's primary arsenal now has levels that you can progress through by completing missions, which in turn help you unlock new attachments via requisition. You can change sights, adjust magazines, alter color patterns, pick a different muzzle, or even customize the underbarrel to help with handling. You now have unparalleled freedom to take on the galaxy's biggest threats, however you wish.
On top of all of this, Arrowhead is also making a massive change to how the superstore works. Instead of including different items and cosmetics in limited rotations, the store has been expanded. So if you missed a specific item the first time it was available, you can now spend those hard-earned super credits on whatever you want, whenever you want.
To round out these changes, Arrowhead says it's unlocking patterns for the FRV themed around the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. The backlog of patterns is releasing on Thursday May 15, alongside the new Masters of Ceremony Warbond.
If you've been waiting for Arrowhead to drop the next big Helldivers 2 update before jumping back into the game, this is it. Not only do you have a new slate of Illuminates to deal with, but the weapon customization is a complete game-changer. The new Helldivers 2 update is live now.
We've also put together all the multiplayer games, if you want more than just Helldivers 2.
