Light No Fire release date estimate, trailers, and latest news

Sean Murray has announced the next project from No Man's Sky developer Hello Games, so here's we expect Light No Fire to be released.

When is the Light No Fire release date? The survival sandbox game was announced at The Game Awards in 2023, and it immediately caught our attention thanks to its Valheim vibes and colorful fantasy world. Developer Hello Games has been working on No Man's Sky for over a decade, so it was a welcome surprise to see co-founder Sean Murray  Geoff Keighley on stage to reveal the studio's next ambitious title.

Like Valheim, adventure game as "the first real open world" game, so let's dig into everything we know about the Light No Fire release date estimate, gameplay, and more.

Light No Fire release date estimate

We expect the Light No Fire release date to fall in the latter part of 2025, if not early 2026. Hello Games has been burned by overhyping a release, so a short marketing cycle makes sense. The open-world game has been in development for more than five years already.

Light No Fire is coming to PC via Steam, though additional platforms or consoles are yet to be confirmed. Given the proliferation of No Man's Sky across PC, consoles, and even the iPad, we expect that Light No Fire will appear on all major platforms.

Much like No Man's Sky, Hello Games likely has a long-term roap planned for this project, with plenty of updates in the pipeline following the launch. Given the studio's success with expansion packs for No Man's Sky, we anticipate that new questlines, mechanics, and hardware will keep players coming back long after the Light No Fire release date has ed.

Light No Fire trailer

During the 2023 reveal, after an overview of the history of No Man's Sky and all the work Hello Games has put into it, Sean Murray and Geoff Keighley revealed that the fantastical Light No Fire bears a remarkable resemblance to No Man's with its general look and feel, but it's clearly set on a single planet rather than 18 quintillion of them – and this one even has little rabbit people!

As you can see in the trailer, this expansive world has several gorgeous biomes to explore, with massive mountains to scale and, more importantly, dragons to ride and habitats to build. No doubt fans of No Man's Sky will love every minute of it.

Light No Fire gameplay

Hello Games claims that Light No Fire has the depth of an RPG game and the freedom of a survival sandbox, with four major design pillars: a multiplayer Earth, a procedural Earth, a fantasy Earth, and an unexplored Earth.

There'll be plenty to discover in the co-op game, and we can already anticipate that it'll be best experienced with friends in tow. As with most survival games, Light No Fire includes building mechanics that encourage communities to come together and construct persistent settlements across the planet's diverse biomes.

The planet is teeming with wild beasts and "thick with lore," though we'll have to wait and see what implications the story might have on the overall game experience. Hello Games says that classic fantasy settings are a major source of inspiration, and the studio wishes to capture the same "adventure, charm, and imagination" in Light No Fire. Either way, the planet is itself one big mystery to solve, and we can't wait to see the full scale of Hello Games' ambition.
