The digital marketplace has transformed significantly in the years since MechWarrior 4 released, which means you're not going to need that dusty old disc drive to realise your mech fantasies. In MechWarrior 5 you'll be strapping back into the mech suit for some devastating combat and tactical gameplay, where you'll command a team of AI-controlled mechs in single player or online co-op with friends. However, you may have noticed that MechWarrior 5 isn't available on all digital platforms.

Is MechWarrior 5 coming to Steam?
MechWarrior 5 will not be on Steam when it launches December 10, 2019 – at least for a year anyway. MechWarrior 5 is one of the many, many games to the Epic Games Store exclusive list for one year. After one year, it will be able to launch on other platforms, including Steam.
The community has already been asking the question 'will MechWarrior 5 have modding ?'. Developer Piranha Games say in an FAQ post, "We are fully committed to ing mod making for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Upon the game release, mod makers will be able to the editor and everything they need to create full mods. Then early in 2020, we will integrate the end experience for mod makers to share their creations with the community."
As we know, Epic plans to release modding as part of its roap in early 2020, but won't be available before then.
So, although MechWarrior 5 won't be coming to Steam for at least a year, you will be able to play the latest in the MechWarrior series on the Epic Games Store.
