Metal Gear Solid is a notoriously batshit series. This is a stealth series where you fight giant robots that sound like cows, ogle virtual women and where you fight a vampire and a fat bomb expert who wears rollerskates. If I were to list all the times the series jumped the shark – or the giant, flaming whale – I would be here all week.

When you think about the series as a whole, it's a strange thing. Does anyone the Xbox-exclusive skateboarding mode for Metal Gear Solid 2? I do. Anyway, that's why it's not such a big shock that Konami are making a zombie spin-off called Metal Gear Survive.
Survive is a budget game that reuses assets from Metal Gear Solid V, transporting players to another dimension – one that looks a lot like Afghanistan – where there are weird, crystalline zombies to fight, in four-player co-op.
Speaking at the Tokyo Games Show, series creator Hideo Kojima – who is now working on Death Stranding at his own studio – told IGN his thoughts on the spin-off.
"The Metal Gear games are about political fiction and espionage," he explained. "Where do zombies fit in with that?" Well, Mr. Kojima, I don't know if you realise this, but Metal Gear Solid V already has zombies in it. They're called wandering puppets but, mate, they're zombies.
"If I had worked on that game, it would have mechs in it," he added. They'd probably sound like cows too.
