MSI just revealed its new AI Care Sensor for gaming monitors at Computex, which watches you to determine when the QD-OLED display needs to be turned off to prevent burn-in. It's currently only available on one display, and it doesn't come cheap.
Many of the MSI just upped the game with this AI tech, which it claims can determine when you're actively using your display and turn it off as a protective measure if you're AFK.
This new AI tech is only in place on the MSI MAG 27IQR QD-OLED X50, which is a 26.5-inch, 2,560 x 1,440 display with a 500Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. The monitor also meets some of the latest VESA OLED certification standards, including DisplayHDR True Black 500 and ClearMR 21000.
The AI care sensor can be seen just below the MSI logo on the bottom of the , and looks very similar to a built-in webcam. MSI claims this sensor checks to see whether someone is actively using the display using AI technology.
If it cannot detect a , the display is turned off to prevent image burn-in. Alternatively, if it detects a when the screen is turned off, it will turn on the display so it's ready to use immediately.
Going even further, there are additional AI features packed into this display, with the sensor also used to determine when adaptive dimming is enabled, and it can even adjust the color temperature of the display based on the lighting in your environment.
The implementation of this sensor doesn't impact the base warranty of the display either, with a three-year warranty included, and burn-in is covered for the duration.
As for cost, it's not cheap, with the MSI MAG 27IQR QD-OLED X50 costing $899, or a version without the AI sensor, called the MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50, can be purchased for $849.
