Nvidia and AMD gaming GPU prices are finally dropping in the US, if you're quick

If you act quick, you can pick up an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 9070 graphics card for a much more reasonable price now.

There are glimpses of graphics card prices settling in some places of the US market right now, with some of the latest Nvidia GeForce and AMD Radeon GPU prices dropping to much more reasonable levels. While we've yet to see any new GPU prices at the basically mythical US MSRPs, the Radeon RX 9070 and 5060 Ti are now available with prices that, while not at MSRP, are at least not absolutely obscene.

If you've been holding off on buying the AMD Radeon RX 9070 for $679.99, which are more acceptable prices than some of the stratospheric scalper prices figures we've seen recently.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti

With more VRAM than the RTX 5070, the 16GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti can actually play some games at settings that are unattainable on the more expensive card. While the basic rendering power of the GPU isn't much faster than its predecessor, the addition of full Nvidia DLSS 4 , including multi frame gen, means you can max out some games at extremely high settings on this GPU, and still get smooth frame rates.

For example, I had it running Cyberpunk 2077 completely maxed out with the Overdrive ray tracing preset, and it was still averaging a super-smooth 179fps at 1,920 x 1,080. Meanwhile, the 16GB card can even play the super-demanding Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at the Ultra preset, and with the brutal Full RT path tracing mode set to Medium, all at 138fps, thanks to some help from DLSS.

You can currently pick up a Gigabyte 8GB RTX 5060 Ti for $419.99, which isn't far off the $379.99 MSRP, but if you can afford it, I thoroughly recommend buying the 16GB version instead for $529.99, which will give you plenty of headroom for future games, and enable you to push for higher settings in existing games too.

AMD Radeon RX 9070

Ostensibly priced at $549, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 has more usually been priced at outrageous prices of $800 and above lately, so it's a relief to see this PowerColor card now going for $679.99 on Amazon. That's still too high, but it's much better than before, and it's the best graphics card we can find going for a reasonable price in the US right now.

With 16GB of VRAM and loads of rendering power, the Radeon RX 9070 is a superior GPU to the competing RTX 5070, even at its higher price – it was even faster than the RTX 4080 in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 in our tests. Plus, unlike previous generations of AMD GPUs, this one can also handle ray tracing properly, while AMD's new FSR 4 upscaling tech is vastly superior to previous versions.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070

As I was writing this article, this Gigabyte RTX 5070 card was going for $609.99, which was the most reasonable US Price I'd seen for a long time. However, it had already gone out of stock by the time I'd finished writing the piece, which just shows the imbalance between GPU supply and demand in the US right now.

The nearest I could find afterward was this flashy Gigabyte RTX 5070 card for $699.99, which is the same price as this Zotac Solid card, and this white Gigabyte Aero card. That's too much for the GPU power on offer, but it's still better than over $800.

With stock quickly disappearing shortly after it goes on sale, even when it's priced well above MSRP, the US GPU market clearly still has some way to go before graphics card prices aren't a lottery anymore, and the current tariff trade war undoubtedly isn't helping here. However, the recent settling of UK GPU prices shows that graphics cards can be bought at MSRP in the right market conditions, so let's hope prices properly settle down in the US soon.
