The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 might only be a few months old, but it looks like it's already been dethroned as the fastest Nvidia gaming GPU out there. Initial benchmarks have shown that the Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell, aimed at workstation PCs and sharing the same GPU chip as the RTX 5090, is actually a gaming powerhouse itself, with performance that is at least 10% faster than the RTX 5090.
That said, we're not rushing to update our advice on buying the best graphics card out there just yet. There are plenty of reasons why this Nvidia workstation GPU isn't really suitable for gaming, not least the enormous price tag, with some RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell cards selling for as much as $11,000 online so far.
Performance-wise, however, this Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell GPU is just an absolute beast, with one lucky Redditor, u/privaterbok, able to secure one and put it through a series of benchmark tests. According to their results, shared in a Reddit post, the RTX Pro 6000 scored 51,776 on Time Spy, with a score of 28,009 running Time Spy Extreme, with a modest overclocking pushing up those scores to 54,300 and 30,019 respectively.
This GPU, which ships with an enormous 96GB VRAM compared to the RTX 5090's 32GB, also seemingly performs very well in real-world gaming tests. Hardware YouTuber Level1Techs put the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell through its paces in Cyberpunk 2077, hitting an average of 126fps with the game running at 4K using DLSS Super Resolution and the Ultra ray tracing preset.

While most gamers won't be able to afford this GPU, it does show that there's more potential in this chip than the RTX 5090 delivers. The same GPU, with significantly more VRAM, is able to outperform with more raw power available to it, as the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell shows here. Compared to the RTX 5090, the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell has a 9% higher 24,064 CUDA core count and a maximum 600W power draw. The RTX 5090, meanwhile, has only 21,760 CUDA cores, along with a total board power limit of 575W.
Unfortunately for us, the cost of those boosted specs is a graphics card that is seemingly four to five times more expensive than the consumer model, putting this out of reach for most. For now, then, the RTX 5090 remains safe at the top of the gaming GPU market, and you can check out our RTX 5090 review to see why it's a powerhouse in its own right.
