ing the Dark Brotherhood in RPG, read on.
How to the Dark Brotherhood
To the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion Remastered, you need to:
- Kill an innocent NPC and go to sleep
- Speak to Lucien Lachance and accept his contract
- Kill Rufio and sleep again
- Speak to Lucien once more
- Speak to Ocheeva in the sanctuary
Kill an innocent NPC and go to sleep
To get yourself on the Dark Brotherhood's radar, you have to commit murder. But you can't just kill any old soul, for the Brotherhood requires the blood of an innocent. There are plenty of candidates for this, but bumping off someone near an inn or player-owned bed is the simplest way. After doing the deed, find a usable bed and get a restful night's sleep.
Speak to Lucien Lachance and accept his contract
'The air grows chill and a shadow approaches…'
Upon awakening, well-rested, you'll come face-to-face with one of the best characters in Oblivion, Lucien Lachance, who'll proposition you to the Dark Brotherhood. Of course, a firm handshake and a "I won't let you down, sir!" won't suffice for this binding contract, so you'll have to go and send someone else to the pearly gates.
In this case, you need to kill Rufio in the Inn of Ill Omen, which is located on the Green Road to the north of Bravil. It will show up on your map as a transparent icon. You can easily find the icon by heading directly south from the Imperial City on your map.
Lucien will give you the Blade of Woe before parting. You don't need to exterminate Rufio with it, but hey, free weapon. Just make sure you keep hold of it for later down the Dark Brotherhood quest line.
Kill Rufio and sleep again
Once you get to the inn, head inside, immediately turn left, and go down the trap door that leads to the Private Quarters. Follow the corridor and open the wooden door, revealing a sleeping Rufio. Give him the Julius Caesar treatment, and take his place in the bed. Now, sleep.
Speak to Lucien once more
"So, the deed is done. How do I know this? You will find that the Dark Brotherhood knows a great many things. For you are now part of the family."
These are the words Lucien greets you with when you wake up, cementing your place in the Dark Brotherhood. Congratulations, you're a stone-cold killer!
However, there is one more important step in the process that you'll need to complete before you can start carrying out the not-so-good work of the Brotherhood. It's time to head to the sanctuary in Cheydinhal.
Speak to Ocheeva in the sanctuary
Located in the northeast of Cyrodiil, Cheydinhal's eastern district serves as the perfect spot for a shady sanctuary. Teleport to the East Gate and head south to the abandoned house. Pick the easy lock on the door (some save-scumming required if you're not used to the Oblivion Remastered lockpicking system yet), and head inside.
Once you're in, go through the wooden door leading to the abandoned basement, follow the path, and you'll come face-to-face with the ancient black door to the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary. It certainly lives up to its namesake. Attempt to open the door, and answer 'sanguine, my brother' when asked 'what is the color of night?' Step through.
You'll encounter Ocheeva pretty much as soon as you enter the sanctuary. She'll greet you before pointing you in the direction of the Brotherhood's contract master, Vicente Valtieri. As a welcome gift, she'll present you with the Shrouded Armor and Shrouded Hood, which provide enchantment bonuses to Sneak, Illusion, Marksman, Blade, and Acrobatics. Everything a growing assassin needs.
