Since the rootin' tootin' Dead-Eye shootin' adventure game Red Dead Redemption 2 galloped onto consoles last October, we've been keeping our fingers crossed that a PC version would follow. Given that its predecessor Red Dead Redemption never did make it onto the platform, our dream might have seemed a little in vain – until now. It looks like one Twitter might have found a little something to get our hopes up in some site source code.
As spotted by VG24/7, Twitter JakoMako51 has posted a screenshot of some source code from the game's Rockstar Social Club site in which you can see a reference to "RDR2_PC_Accomplishments". He says in his tweet "the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC is now quite evident", and provides a link to the page for readers to go check out for themselves by searching for "RDR2_PC" on it.
Navigate to the site and it does indeed include this phrase, along with references to PlayStation 4 trophies and XBOX One achievements elsewhere on the page.
This is far from confirmation that a PC version is on the way, and there could be various reasons why developer Rockstar might include this text in the source code. As VG24/7 notes, the page does contain the following phrase: "get special in-game benefits for Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC and Red Dead Online for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One", which could put a question mark over the other PC reference's validity.

However, it is certainly interesting given previous rumblings and rumours about a PC release of the game. Last year Red Dead Redemption 2's companion app hinted at a PC version, with some of its parameters seemingly referencing PC or even PC-specific themselves. Earlier this year VG24/7 also reported that a dev's CV seemed to suggest the possibility of a PC version.
Yee-haw: Everything we know about a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release
This new find could be the latest clue pointing towards an PC release of the critically acclaimed Western adventure (which has a score of 97 on Metacritic). Or it could be that a version for our home platform isn't on the horizon after all. I for one really hope it's the first of those.
