It happened to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. It happened to Fallout 3. And now, monumental open-world hit Schedule 1 has run afoul of the Australian classification system. One of the biggest surprises of 2025, TVGS' GTA-inspired, open-world crime epic has already amassed hundreds of thousands of concurrent players and near-flawless reviews. Nevertheless, for some people, Schedule 1 is unavailable for purchase right now. TVGS' studio head, known simply as 'Tyler,' says they are working rapidly on a fix.
Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed, leaving a hole in the soul of anybody longing for solid, crime-driven Schedule 1, as the name suggests it challenges you with amassing your own drug-dealing empire, cultivating increasingly potent strains of illegal narcotics, forging an elaborate distribution network, and killing rivals to gain territory. Released in March, of the more than 174,000 Steam reviews posted for Schedule 1 so far, a gigantic 98% are positive. Back in April, it hit a peak of 459,000 concurrent players, even higher than the all-time records of GTA 5 and Payday 2.
But now, if you're in Australia, Schedule 1 has suddenly become unavailable for purchase. We've checked the region's Steam store ourselves – it's definitely gone. Thankfully, Tyler offers an explanation, and says that they are working on a remedy.
"To anyone in Australia, you might've noticed Schedule 1 is hidden on Steam," the developer says. "Don't worry, the game hasn't been banned, but it turns out all games sold in Australia need to receive a classification/age rating. I thought this was only required for console and physical releases. I'm ing the ratings agency today and getting this resolved ASAP. Apologies for the inconvenience."
Various games have famously been challenged by Australia's classification board. As well as San Andreas and Fallout 3, State of Decay, Saints Row, DayZ, Hotline Miami, and Left 4 Dead have also been blocked by the ratings agency, although in most cases, the bans were later overturned.
