How many Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090's can you power off a single power supply? Well, if you own this brand-new Silverstone PSU, the answer is three. Wildly impractical as it might be for most gamers, the new Silverstone Hela 2500Rz has four 12V-2×6 power connectors for RTX 40 and 50-series GPUs, letting you power three RTX 5090s or four RTX 4090s from a single 2,500W power supply.
Most gaming rigs with even the best gaming PC, if you're planning a more specialist PC build where gaming isn't necessarily the focus, a Silverstone power supply like this one could do the job.
For long-time PC builders like me, a product like this one is something of a marvel. It looks a lot like any other power supply but with a lot more connectors available, including four 12V-2×6 ports (and matching cables) that can be used to power modern graphics cards such as Nvidia's RTX 4000 and 5000 series as well as some recent AMD cards like the RX 9070 XT. It also has several 8-pin PCIe ports available for lower-end or older GPUs.
It's clear that this isn't a power supply for the average gamer or even most consumers. For starters, most US households would need access to a 16-amp, 240-volt outlet just to power this beast, as the average 110-volt outlet will max out at 1,800W, with a typical safety limit of 1,500W.
Given the connectivity, this is a PSU you're probably going to see in AI-focused workstation builds that require high-end GPUs, so your home power provider can rest easy for now. That doesn't mean a gamer couldn't use it in their next build but, for now, Nvidia continues to recommend "only" having a 1,000W PSU to power its RTX 5090 (a card with a 575W TDP). A model such as the Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5 would suffice for that.
The Silverstone Hela 2500Rz price hasn't been revealed yet, but given this is one of the most powerful PSUs that a home could buy, we're expecting to see a hefty price tag attached to it.
