Smite 2 1.0 release date estimate

There has been no real communication regarding the Smite 2 1.0 release date, but we think it won't be until 2026. This is based on the current release schedule of Gods.

There are over 100 Gods in Smite, and the devs plan to bring at least most of those over to Smite 2, with new additions to boot. If we estimated that the 1.0 release date would come when around 100 Gods have been added to the sequel, this would take us into 2026.

New Gods are being added to Smite 2 incredibly quickly, roughly one a week, in fact. However, with 45 Gods in the game at the beta release date of January 14, 2025, even one a week takes us to February 2026.

That said, some layoffs were made in the Smite 2 team in early 2025, which could cause delays to future content.

Smite 2 open beta release date

Smite 2 was released as a free-to-play game on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. This is technically classed as an open beta though, due to a limited roster of Gods.

While this is technically an open beta, it's a full iteration of the free PC game ahead of a 1.0 launch, open to all and fully realized, with more Gods being added to the game in the future. Of course we'll keep you updated on any future release date news, but Smite 2 is essentially ready to play right now.

Smite 2 launched on January 14 with 45 Gods and six modes, a marked increase from the alpha version of the game. However, we know that there's still plenty more to come. Speaking with the Titan Forge team in 2024, we learned that the team would "love" to bring every one of the existing characters to the ever-growing list of Smite 2 Gods.

Smite 2 gameplay

As one of the many Gods and Goddesses in the MOBA, you play in one of five classes: Assassin, Hunter, Guardian, Mage, or Warrior. Whether you want to help your teammates, shoot opponents at range, or take the battle to them with destructive melee attacks, there's a role for you – and a powerful mythological character perfect for you, too.

What really sets Smite apart from the competition though, alongside its majestic characters and lore, is its third-person action perspective, which differs from the usual top-down MOBA view. This third-person view allows you to really get in on the action, making the most of your powerful attacks and magical weaponry, and that's exactly what excited Titan Forge Games about making Smite 2.

The team at Titan Forge thinks there's room to take the original game further, to maintain that fine balance between fun and competitiveness while improving the depth, lore, and action. To make a game "more beautiful than ever before." Smite 2 is just that. With a game so strongly tied to its mythological content, Titan Forge feels that players can "feel more like Gods than ever before."

In the Smite 2 reveal keynote above, Smite executive producer Alex Cantatore says, "In Smite, you're playing as a God, but it doesn't necessarily feel like you're playing as a God. There's not a lot of impact on your abilities, there's not a lot of spectacle." He continues, "There's a fine line to walk there where we want to make sure it's still very responsive, still very competitive, but we want to make it feel more like you're a God performing these godly actions." In the Smite 2 trailer at the top of the page, we get a glimpse of just what this looks like, with more dramatic attacks, more colorful displays of power, and a closer look at your God's abilities.

What happens to my Smite progress?

Unfortunately, due to the Unreal Engine 5, it's almost impossible for your purchased characters and skins to be carried across to Smite 2. That doesn't mean that your hard work over the last ten years won't be rewarded in Smite. In fact, on the contrary, Titan Forge is implementing perhaps the most rewarding cross-gen progress scheme possible.

For every single gem you've ever spent in Smite, you're automatically awarded a new Smite 2 Legacy Gem to spend on new characters and skins in Smite 2. With a purchase of the Founder's Pack, you receive double Legacy Gems. Your time, money, and dedication to Smite is fully rewarded in the sequel. What's more, your progression throughout the last ten years is to be turned into Divine Legacy, giving you more unlockables to show off your Smite progress in Smite 2.

That's everything you need to know about the Smite 2 release date, and there's so much to keep you busy in the open beta before the PC games we can't wait for this year, including this one.
