Star Wars' main saga may focus on the lives of the Skywalkers (what a strange family), but the galaxy far, far away is full of other tales. Set 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the game opens with your player character waking up on a Republic ship that is under attack by Sith Lord Malak. I guess the one thing that never changes throughout all the millennia in the Star Wars universe is that the galaxy is never at peace.
Considering it was developed by BioWare of Mass Effect and Dragon Age fame, it's no surprise that Knights of the Old Republic is a brilliant role-playing game, and one of my favorite PC games of all time. While the combat shows its age a little bit, the dialogue and story, the Light or Dark Side alignment system keeps things interesting by letting you decide whether you want to act more like a Jedi or a Sith.
I also have a huge soft spot for the Force Unleashed duology. These two games see you play as Darth Vader's secret apprentice, dubbed 'Starkiller', who is much cooler than the Death Star clone of the same name in The Force Awakens. They are true hack-and-slash games, and while the sequel has a weaker story, both have incredible, fast-paced gameplay that makes them worth playing.
