Players looking for a sprawling open-world RPG game to get lost in have plenty of options right now, especially with both Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and a remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion having launched very recently. Those looking for even more from Bethesda Game Studios, creator of the latter game, just received some surprising good news as well, since the studio has launched a big new update to its 2023 space game Starfield that provides a host of fixes to ongoing technical issues.
review of the base game said it "[struggles] to keep up within the wider context of the genre, which is being pushed in bold new directions by the likes of Larian Studios and CD Projekt Red" and called it an "interstellar adventure [that] never leaves the atmosphere." Players on Steam seem to agree, Starfield currently holding a 58% positive, 'Mixed' overall rating.
The launch of its first major DLC, Shattered Space, didn't come out in great shape either. On Steam, the DLC has a 30% or 'Mostly Negative' rating. Still, as one of the game's creators reiterated more recently on X, the studio hasn't abandoned Starfield and plans to continue work on it.
New proof of this commitment arrived today in the form of a wide-ranging update, which expands the Creation Kit and provides an array of bug fixes that address issues ranging from Starfield's vehicle systems and a number of quests to its its interface and elements of Shattered Space. Steam players can the update now by opting into its beta.
