Tempest Rising system requirements are unusually high for an RTS

This old-school real-time strategy game released earlier than expected, and the Tempest Rising recommended specs are pretty shocking.

What are the Tempest Rising system requirements? This old-school RTS is anything but old school when it comes to what it demands from your gaming PC. If you're a fan of the Command and Conquer games, Tempest Rising should help scratch the strategy itch, if you can run the game.

While you won't need the Tempest Rising, its recommended system requirements push for some unusually high GPU and U specs that would be more at home in a triple-A RPG or FPS.

Take our Tempest Rising system requirements PC benchmark test to answer the question… Can I run Tempest Rising?

The Tempest Rising minimum requirements are fairly light and shouldn't be too much of an issue if you have an older or budget gaming PC. You'll need an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 alongside an Intel Core i5 8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600.

You'll also only need 8GB of RAM, which is refreshing, as more games start to move towards 16GB as the minimum. If you want to future-proof yourself against this, you can some of the best gaming RAM for a relatively cheap price in 2025.

As for the Tempest Rising recommended specs, these take a hearty jump up, asking for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT paired with an Intel Core i5 11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. The RAM requirement also doubles to 16GB.

While they're not exactly unreasonable, these specs are certainly on the high side for an RTS game. It's possible that the recommended specs are actually required to run the game at the highest graphical presets at a higher resolution, such as 1440p or 4K, but this isn't specified in the Steam notes, so it's hard to say for sure.

Finally, the Tempest Rising size sits at 45GB, but you'll need one of the best SSDs for gaming regardless of which tier of specs your machine meets. Just like the move to 16GB of RAM, SSDs have now become the new standard for game storage, so upgrading now could save you trouble down the line.
