LoL parent company Tencent now owns a piece of the Spec Ops: The Line studio

Another one to add to the pile

The company behind some of your favourite games has invested in another studio. Tencent, the Chinese conglomerate that owns Riot Games and holds a large stake in Epic, has invested in Yager.

"The Berlin-based game development studio will be receiving a strategic minority investment from Tencent," reads a press release. "The fresh capital will be used to strengthen both Yager's development and publishing activities for their current title The Cycle and projects."

The developer previously made the acclaimed shooter Overwatch parent Activision Blizzard and, separately, 5% of Ubisoft, among other investments.

The press release continues: "Tencent's investment will leave the studio fully independent – all operations will continue under its current corporate structure and leadership."

That will include work on "unannounced games in development", though it's not clear what those projects entail. A Yager representative declined to elaborate on the unannounced projects when ed by PCGamesN.
