The Witness pre-orders may have been so in demand they crashed the site, but that hasn't stopped people from illegally ing Jonathan Blow's dreamlike puzzle game.
Definitely don't pirate any of the games in our list of the best indie games on PC.
In a series of candid tweets yesterday, Jonathan Blow spoke about The Witness being pirated, saying, "It seems The Witness is the #1 game on a certain popular torrent site. Unfortunately this will not help us afford to make another game!
"I'm glad that a lot more people will be experiencing the game! But I also want to be able to make another comparable game next! Just sayin'."
He also went on to say that he didn't put DRM in the game because he likes to give people the freedom of ownership, but he might have to consider it for the next game.
@_LarZen_ That might happen on the next game, I don't know! I don't like DRM because I think people should have the freedom to own things

There could be a few reasons for this spate of piracy, with some players reporting motion sickness, some saying it's impossible if you're colour-blind, and others decrying its £29.99 price tag.
However, even if these are legitimate issues you face, these don't justify stealing the game, especially when Steam refunds exist.
