Titanfall 2 going head-to-head with Battlefield 1 hurt sales

I've been saying variations of this since it launched, but here it is again – Titanfall 2 is one of the best modern FPS games ever made. Seriously, you should play it. Unfortunately, it launched in a super busy release period and even went up against Battlefield 1, another big FPS published by EA.

At the time, committed to the franchise, perhaps hinting that developers Respawn will get another go.

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said the game had been a sales success, though it didn't do nearly as well as it should.

"The game was successful, it sold well, but it didn't quite sell as well as it should have," Zampella itted. "Maybe because it was super-crowded, the pricing was aggressive – it was a rough window to launch our game."

Titanfall 2 was just added to Origin Access, EA's gaming subscription service, so hopefully it builds up a larger following in preparation for a possible sequel.

Anyone who plays it now will surely appreciate the Respawn have given the FPS since launch, with free co-op modes, maps, titans, and more released in recent months.
