New budget AMD GPU will reportedly launch two days after Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060

According to this latest leak, the new AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT gaming GPU will launch at Computex 2025, with graphics cards coming later.

According to the latest GPU rumors, just two days will separate the launch dates of the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 and AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT, with both gaming GPUs reportedly set to do battle in a few weeks. After successfully taking on the RTX 5070 by launching the Radeon RX 9070 XT immediately afterward, it looks as though AMD is hoping it can perform the same feat again at the budget end of the market.

AMD will have to get its pricing right, though. As I found in my Radeon RX 9060 XT just two days later.

This latest 9060 XT release date rumor. Either way, it looks as though AMD isn't going to waste any time when it comes to countering the RTX 5060, at least on paper.

However, when it comes to the actual products releasing, Benchlife says that Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics cards "may not be seen until June." As such, while the rumored AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launch date looks set to be Wednesday, May 20, 2025, at the Computex tradeshow, this could be just an unveiling, with the cards not actually being out in stores until a couple of weeks later.

The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT is rumored to be coming in two versions, with 8GB or 16GB of VRAM, like the RTX 5060 Ti, but it's also rumored to be less powerful than the 5060 Ti. Arguably, the RTX 5060 price of $299 is too high for a budget card with just 8GB of VRAM, so if AMD can get its Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB as close to this price as possible, it could get another slam dunk of a gaming GPU bargain. Nvidia still has the big brand recognition here, though, so AMD needs to play its pricing game very carefully.

Either way, it would be great to see some more aggressive competition in the gaming GPU market, especially as we haven't had a truly great budget graphics card for a number of years now.
