This AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT specs rumor sets up a battle with the RTX 5060 Ti

This rumored new budget AMD Radeon gaming GPU could ship with a 3.3GHz top clock speed and 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM, according to this new leak.

Yet another leak has appeared that potentially reveals some of the core specs for the so far unannounced budget-friendly AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT. While the details aren't yet confirmed, this new leak suggests a gaming GPU that is likely to compete directly with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti.

It's fair to say that this newest generation of RX 9060 XT price rumor suggests that it might not be as affordable as gamers hope.

X post showing likely AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT specs rumors

Official specs for the RX 9060 XT haven't yet been revealed yet, but prolific hardware leaker, momomo_us, has speculated some of the  details in a Radeon RX 9060 XT specs rumors.

In the post, momomo_us mentions two variations of the same GPU, which would likely refer to cards with reference and overclocked speeds. According to the post, the reference model could have a boost speed of up to 3,290MHz, with a game clock speed of 2,700MHz. Meanwhile, the OC model could take those figures up to 3,320MHz, with the game clock speed reaching 2,780MHz.

As our AMD Radeon RX 9070 review shows, that would potentially give the RX 9060 XT higher boost and game clock speeds than the RX 9070, which has a boost clock of 2,520MHz and a game clock of 2,070MHz. It's also higher than the RX 9070 XT, which has a game clock of 2,400MHz and a boost clock of 2,970MHz, with some OC models going as high as 3,100MHz.

The post goes on to suggest that this GPU will be equipped with 2,048 Stream Processors but with higher clock speeds than the RX 9070 XT. These higher speeds should help to push the 9060 XT's performance a little higher than would otherwise be suggested by its SP count, though the clock speed difference is only around 15% compared to the 75% increase in SPs in the 9070 XT – it houses 3,584 SPs.

The post also suggests that the unmentioned GPU will use a PCIe 5.0 x16 connection and will ship with 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM running at 20Gbps and use a 128-bit memory bus. The use of all 16 PCIe lanes would be a nice addition here, ensuring that gamers get the maximum available bandwidth, regardless of their motherboard.

Compare that to the RTX 5060 Ti, a card with similar specs (on paper) to these rumored ones and which, as our RTX 5060 Ti review shows, only ships with for PCIe 5.0 over eight lanes. That means that if you use the card on older motherboards that only PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 3.0, you could see a performance decrease. That's because the older PCIe standards run much slower so need more PCIe lanes to ensure they deliver enough bandwidth to a graphics card.

Momomo_us also suggests that the GPU will have three outputs, with two DisplayPort and one HDMI port available. It'll also use only a single 8-pin power connection, which puts an upper limit of 220W on the TBP of this card. Given the RX 9070's TBP is also set at 220W, we'd be expecting the power limits on the RX 9060 XT to be much lower.

All of these specs point strongly to a card that will heavily compete with the RTX 5060 Ti, but only if the price is right. While these specs aren't yet confirmed, we aren't expected to wait too much longer to find out what they are for certain. A recent RX 9060 XT launch date rumor suggests that we could see the new GPU announced as early as next week at the Computex 2025 trade show on May 21.

Until then, check out our AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT review to see why that particular card is currently our favorite for the average gamer – if you can get your hands on one at a good price, that is.
