Krafton has announced it is renaming Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons in an attempt to "fully reflect the game's identity and potential." The PUBG and Inzoi publisher assures that the title's core features and mechanics will remain unchanged, but has subsequently delayed its global launch.
Earlier this year, Krafton released RPG will continue under a different name.
"Starting Wednesday June 11, Dark and Darker Mobile will be rebranded as Abyss of Dungeons," Krafton writes. "A new title was needed to fully reflect the game's identity and potential, and as a result, we have decided to move forward with the name Abyss of Dungeons.
"The new title refers to the shadowy depths that serve as the game's setting, as well as the intense fights for survival that define its core gameplay. With this change, we'd like to reaffirm our commitment to providing our adventurers with a more polished and exciting gameplay experience."

Krafton adds that all your progress in Dark and Darker Mobile will remain intact, and the game's overall mechanics and core features will be unchanged. Abyss of Dungeons will also be launched in Indonesia, Brazil, Thailand, and Mexico, but the global release that Krafton promised would arrive in 2025 has been pushed back, and no new date has been set.
Krafton's announcement doesn't mention Ironmace or the Dark and Darker PC version by name, the former of which is currently in the midst of ongoing legal issues. Back in 2023, Korean publisher Nexon brought a lawsuit against Ironmace, alleging that several of its employees had taken plans from a game they were building at Nexon and used them to create Dark and Darker. Since then, a South Korean court ruled that Ironmace did not commit copyright infringement against Nexon, but was liable for 8.5 billion won (around $5.9 million) over infringement on trade secrets.
Following this, the PC version of Dark and Darker was delisted on the Epic Games Store. Ironmace says "The decision appears to be based on claims made by opposing parties in an ongoing legal dispute."
In a ChosunBiz article from earlier this year, a Krafton official addressed Dark and Darker Mobile's name change. "This decision is an independent decision unrelated to legal disputes or rulings, and there will be no changes to in-game content or systems," it said.
