How do you level up fast in Oblivion Remastered? You're not alone in wondering. While the game is touted as a remaster, it falls shockingly close to that of a full-blown remake. And while 99% of its lovable wonkiness remains, including an iconic voice recording session gaff, some things aren't as they were in the original: the biggest being the Oblivion leveling system.

How to level up in Oblivion Remastered
You level up in Oblivion by sleeping in a bed after gaining enough skill levels in either major or minor skills. Leveling a major skill (those selected during character creation and listed at the top of the skills page) earns you more character XP, while minor skill levels (those further down the page) earn you less.
Accrue enough skill levels across either and you'll gain a character level when you hit the hay. A notification will appear in the top-right when you're ready to gain a level, and you can check your progress with the bar at the bottom of the skill page.
Stat points earned when leveling up in bed have changed, too. The tweaked Oblivion Remastered leveling system ensures you always have 12 stat points (or Virtues, if we're being specific) to distribute across any three Attributes at a time.
The attributes you can increase with each character level are Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, Agility, Speed, Endurance, Personality, and Luck.
You can't put more than five points into any one attribute per level. Most only need one point to increase their effectiveness, but Luck requires four, possibly due to it lightly affecting every skill and attribute in some way.
Continue to level skills beyond the tenth without sleeping and their contributions to your character level progression bar will carry over to the next stopgap, potentially triggering the need to sleep multiple times to gain all of your available levels if you tend to watch the days fly by.

How to get free levels in Oblivion Remastered
Beyond the dozens of free levels you get at character creation once you choose your class, you can score some easy levels later on in a few different ways.
If you want some easy extra levels in Speed, Willpower, and Strength, seriously consider becoming a Vampire. Max out the affliction to gain 20 points in each, pushing them to an effective cap of 120. Check out our Oblivion Remastered Vampire guide for more guidance there.
You can also pay for the services of trainers. There are, on average, five unique trainers across Cyrodiil for each skill. You can use their services to increase skills five times per character level.
Note that you must seek out specific trainers to train skills above a certain level threshold. A skill above 40 is classed as needing an Advanced trainer. Climb above 70 and you'll need a Master trainer.
Skill books found around the world can offer free, easy skill levels in Oblivion Remastered, too.
Similar to skill trainers, there are around five books for each skill. These are typically found on bookcases and tables, but some can only be found as random loot in chests and containers.
